ABOUT HAPPY HOLLOW HOMESTEAD

A Working Homestead in Winnsboro, Texas

Where Knowledge Becomes Tradition

Welcome to Happy Hollow Homestead in Winnsboro, Texas. Meet Jennifer and Glen and discover the story, faith, and vision behind our 47-acre homestead in East Texas, where we’re building a place for hands-on learning, traditional skills, and homestead living.

That vision became Happy Hollow Homestead!

OUR JOURNEY

From Agricultural Education to Homestead Life, Texas

For me, this journey really began long before Happy Hollow Homestead. I’ve been involved with petting zoos, barnyard races, and agricultural education since 1996, and we’ve been traveling to state and county fairs across the United States since 1998. It has been an incredible adventure, allowing us to meet thousands of families while teaching children and adults about farm animals and agriculture.

As the years have passed, however, we’ve realized our priorities have changed. Because we operate two traveling units, Glen and I often spend months apart during fair season. While we’re incredibly thankful for the opportunities this business has given us, we no longer feel called to spend so much of our lives on the road.

Why We Created Happy Hollow Homestead

A few years ago, Glen and I began studying the Scriptures more deeply and became Torah-observant followers of Yeshua. We believe all of Scripture is valuable and that our Creator’s instructions continue to have purpose and meaning today. This journey has transformed our lives and has shaped the direction of our homestead. Even more importantly, our walk of faith has led us in a new direction. We desire to honor the Sabbath and the biblical feast days, and the demands of constant travel make that increasingly difficult. After much prayer, we believe Yah is leading us to create something new—a place where we can share both practical homesteading skills and the values that have become so important in our lives.

OUR STORY

Faith. Family. Homesteading

We thought we’d introduce ourselves and share a little about who we are and where this journey is taking us.

My name is Jennifer, and my husband is Glen. We have been married since 2007 and are blessed with five adult children and nine wonderful grandchildren. Glen is originally from Yuma, Arizona, and I was born in Palm Springs, California.

After living in Midvale, Idaho, from 2007 to 2017, Yah led us to East Texas, where we now call 47 beautiful acres near Winnsboro home. We absolutely love the peace, the trees, and the slower pace of country life.

Homesteading classes in East Texas

Classes, Tours, Gatherings

Our goal is to build a place where people of all ages can come to learn traditional skills that are quickly being forgotten. Through years of presenting agricultural education at fairs, I’ve seen firsthand how many people simply want someone to teach them the basics—and sometimes much more.

My greatest passions have always been animals and cooking. I love creating recipes, preparing wholesome meals, and gathering people around the table. There is something special about sharing food you’ve grown, raised, or prepared with your own hands.

In addition to teaching, I enjoy making natural skincare products using wholesome ingredients. Some of my favorites include grass-fed tallow, castor oil, beeswax, and other simple ingredients that have been used for generations.

Some of the classes we’ll be offering include: Homesteading Classes & Traditional Skills

Our farm tours, classes , workshops, parties & events in Winnsboro, Texas, focus on practical skills that connect us to our food, animals, land, and one another.
